Fourth Class at Oakwood, Co. Wicklow 2022
In the Spring of this year, our Fourth Class boys were very lucky to take an overnight stay in Oakwood, Co. Wicklow. The boys were invited by Vincent Jackson and were accompanied by Mr Mc Grath and Mr Blair. The boys loved spending some time in the wide open surroundings of county Wicklow. Check out some pictures below!
Words from Mr Mc Conigley
Fourth class worked very hard this year. All the boys put in a great effort and always engaged well with new tasks and activities.
The boys participated in a twelve week Maths and Football programme with St. Patrick's Athletic. David did some maths work with the boys based on actual maths used by St. Pat's in an excellent workbook and Neil then did some football with the boys in the second part of the session. The boys were very lucky when Ian Bermingham, St. Pat's captain, came into the school, answered the boys' questions and participated in a football match with the boys.
We had a Reader in Residence with us for a number of weeks. Nicola from Ballyfermot Library read with the boys, invited us up to the Ballyfermot Library and created very enjoyable dramas with the boys.
We also visited Dáil Éireann, thanks to Senator Catherine Ardagh for organising the trip for the boys. We had a great day out and learned a lot of new information.
An Irish seanfhocal says 'An rud is annamh is iontach' which means 'what is seldom is wonderful', the boys have made the most of this rare and difficult time by spending a lot of wonderful time with their families and learning online. I have no doubt that the boys will look back on this time with great fondness of the time they spent learning with their families at home.
